Well, most you might have come across some or the other telugu videos on Youtube (YT) which has a crazy intro or a watermark which says "Gopi" or "Gopi Krishna N" and that guy is none other than myself....! I know its a cinematic intoduction;)
Ok, let me tell you how and why i started sharing the videos. It all happened like this......in the month of April 2008 i am new to UK and was having vacation at the university. There were no parttime jobs available at our place. So, i was literally bored the whole day. Then like all others, we started watching the nasty cam print movies online. These are really great prints! I can't follow them straight away though they are telugu movies and i understand telugu. Everyone of us have to be silent to understand the dialogues or whatever as if we are watching some horror movies. I then switched that system with watching songs and comedy clips on Youtube.
Youtube, at that time was offering a weird quality and a 4:3 aspect ratio flash player. For me that was the best compared to the cam print movies. Then i created an account on YT with the name "gopikrishan", typo for Gopi Krishna. While i was searching for the songs, i found many of my favourite songs missing and if present, in a inferior quality. I had no other option than watching them couple of times and listeing to the audio songs. I later found that most of the overseas telugu people are hooked up to Youtube for the songs and stuff......which is cool!
In the last week of May 08, i came across a video which had a toggle button "watch in high quality", this thing surprised me. I played with it for some time and was amazed with the quality. From the next moment i started searching for all such songs. There were not many videos with that tag. Then after a couple of days, i have uploaded my first video and which happened to be "Choodalani Matladalani" from Manmadha. I love this music bit and have shown it to all my friends, even they liked it. I then forgot uploading. In the second week of June 08, i have seen a hindi song with the HQ option. I was very happy and again searched for similar songs but no results.
Then after a week, i wanted to upload a song from the movie Chandamama and want it to get "watch in high quality" option. My first attempt failed, i removed the video, changed the format and reuploaded, even this attempt failed. After several attempts, i got fed up and stopped this process. The next day when i logged in and watched my video, i was shocked to see it having HQ option. Hurray..........! I recollected all the settings and started to upload the videos. I have uploaded some 320 videos in 2 months and was going on. People became crazy and i was receiving lots of messages and comments. I was very excited and was busy ;)
I was uploading all my favourite songs, comedy scenes, nice scenes, background music and mimicry videos. One of the popular among my videos is the Telangana Bus Mimicry which has become the most viewed and there were a stream of messages and comments from the people all over world appreciating the work. Honestly, i haven't made the mimicry but added some flavour and brought it into public. Credits to those artists. Everything was going great.
One fine day in the month of Sept 08, Objectone Information Systems (TeluguOne), started reporting videos to YT as copyright Infringement and therefore my account got suspended. Nearly 50 accounts were suspended. And some accounts like Madhurageethalu, VJNLD, Naachoice, Budugu7, lankeswarudu etc., which had beautiful songs and comedy scenes were lost.
Then i did some research on what infringes their rights and later created mutiple accounts with various songs in them. Telugu youtubers were back with their support. In December 08, YT changed its video player size and also started supporting HD videos. But no information on the technical details that they support. Again i had to experiment and was succesful. With TeluguHD, i could see the same support i got from my first account. Just thought of giving it a professional approach by following a proper strategy, approved user requests and also added this blog.
In the process of all this i screwed up my laptop twice. I have also collected movies from several friends, downloaded them, bought dvd's/vcd's and ripped them. All this effort and time is just for my fellow Youtubers to enjoy the great telugu songs and relish. I am happy that i am serving telugu people since last one year.
My sincere advise for all of you is to buy the DVD/VCD/Audio CD if you can afford them and please rate, comment on the videos you like.
